2021 Genesis G80 | Brownsville, TX
The all-new 2021 Genesis G80 is a fresh take on the midsize luxury car segment. Unlike the previous G80, it was designed from the ground up to be part of a luxury brand, and this shows in all of the important areas, from its upscale interior to its thrilling performance.
Refinement and Luxury
The 2021 Genesis G80 certainly knows how to make an entrance. Dynamic lines, quad-LED headlights, an intricate crest grille and gently sloping rear glass create a truly inviting look. Inside, the impressively spacious interior, panoramic sunroof and luxurious materials like soft Nappa leather and matte finish wood trim are used in abundance, and tastefully complement the two-bar dashboard design. The G80 strikes a nice balance between elegant simplicity and luxurious opulence, offering premium comfort without going over the top.
Chassis and Powertrain
Though the 2021 Genesis G80’s wheelbase is the same as the 2020 model, it is slightly longer and wider, giving it a more athletic stance. Under the hood, it boasts a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 offered as an upgrade. That one is rated at 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, and both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional. Thanks to greater use of aluminum in the body, Genesis says the new G80 is 243 pounds lighter than the previous G80 despite its larger dimensions.
The all-new Genesis G80 boasts a large, central 14.5-inch display that dominates the dashboard, as well as a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Not everything is digital, though. While the central display is touch-sensitive, you can also control it via the rotary dial conveniently placed in the console, and there are physical buttons and knobs for radio, climate control, and navigation functions. The G80 is also equipped with an array of advanced protective and assistance features like Highway Driving Assist II, which can help perform lane changes when you activate the turn signal. It also has a smart parking feature that works even while you’re outside the car.
